A bit more time over the weekend and I achieved what hadn't
worked last time I worked on the car. Actually, I found out something that was
hard to see - the hub nut is peened into a small groove to secure it in place.
I managed to undo that but still needed massive amounts of force to get the nut
undone.
Once it was I managed to get the disc off - the disc comes
off with the hub and bearings on the Fulvia S2 - and could look more closely at
the handbrake shoes - they operate in a small drum which is integral with the
disc.
The handbrake shoes |
There is plenty of lining left on the shoes but I'll get
replacements anyway - the only source I have found so far do them on an
exchange basis as apparently they are no longer available new complete.
Offside rear disc and hub |
The disc is suffering some pitting as the photo shows so a
new pair of those will be ordered - the bills are mounting up now!
The rear calipers |
I've made a start on the other side too now, the caliper is
off so they are ready to send away for refurbishment. Still got to get the hub
off so that is the next job.
